Grand Staircase

This staircase leads to the balcony foyer, or as some cinemas called it, the circle lounge. Near floor level, you can see how the bottom few steps were once wide and sweeping. These were removed in 1981 to make way for an amusement arcade in the new Broadway Leisure Centre.
It was also discovered in 2024 that the original staircase was sparkling white terrazzo with carpet running up the centre. The original terrazzo is covered by wood today.
The grand staircase's most notable surviving feature is the Art Deco light fitting!
