The Broadway Auditorium and Pop-up Museum officially open to two sell-out weekends!

During the golden age of cinema, Troon had three unique cinemas to choose from and the longest-lived and best-remembered of the three was the iconic George Cinema in Portland Street.

Saying farewell to one year and heralding in the next would always have been a special time at the Broadway. In what is now referred to as the 'Chrimbo limbo' by many, back in 1963 the relaxed time between Christmas and New Year saw the Broadway show a film that thanks to an amazing find in the old projectionist's office, we know a great deal about!

Reflecting on December, the festive month, it feels only right that we explore a little into what Christmas was like in the 1930s. What are some old traditions that took place back then that didn’t last, and which ones do we still have that survived the test of time? As tomorrow was the day, they were installing the most interesting looking air vents he had ever laid his eyes upon. He went to sleep ready for the new month and the advancements that would take place within the cinema.  

These adventures have taught us to make little assumptions, always question quirky design elements, and to keep an eye out for the unexpected at all times. As even after four years of exploring, the Broadway still has surprises up her sleeve.
