The Broadway Cinema Experience has held its busiest, most packed programme yet! On Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August, the Broadway played host to a spectacular weekend schedule, with over 100 tickets sold for the Broadway Pop-Up Museum and a variety of member-exclusive events.

The friendly engineer from Omnex is due to visit any day now to commission our big Barco digital projector - the beast that finally lets us screen proper, encrypted Hollywood content. But that’s not all. They are also commissioning our very special Trinnov sound processor. We rescued this innocuous-looking box from yet another semi-derelict cinema, and what a find it was.

After half a century of waiting, feature film returned to the Broadway on Saturday 18th July, with two member-exclusive screenings of The Smallest Show on Earth! A wonderful occasion that will live long in the memory of all who attended, the Broadway was looking the best she has in decades, as our members got to experience a major milestone in our project's journey.

We are thrilled to announce that Kyle represented the Broadway at the biggest film event of the year, the World Premiere of Christopher Nolan's latest film, The Odyssey, at ODEON Luxe Leicester Square in London. Kyle's attendance was included in his participation of the 35mm/70mm/IMAX projection course at the British Film Institute (BFI), delivered by Universal Studios.

The first cinema in Maybole was also one of the first cinemas in Ayrshire, and if still open today it would be the oldest continuously-run cinema in Scotland, Carrick Cinema House on Culzean Road, opened in 1912.

When I first walked into the Broadway's projection room in April 2021, I had absolutely no idea how a 35mm film projector worked. And yet, in completely falling in love with the romance and mystery of this hidden world above the audiences of old, I became determined to learn as much as I could with the long distant dream of some day hearing our own Kalee projectors roar to life once more.
