Ticket Booth

The Broadway's original 1935 ticket booth is one of its most remarkable surviving elements. Its appearance and position have changed slightly over the years. Recent research revealed that it was originally situated further inside, in-between a second set of doors.
It is believed that the booth was moved to its current position on the steps between the 1950s and 1970s. In 1981 it was repurposed as a change kiosk for the Leisure Centre's amusement arcade. We are carefully removing modern layers of wood and paint, to reveal its original design.
"I remember the woman that sat in the ticket booth for years and years... She took no nonsense!"
