First in 50 Years: Film is Back at the Broadway!

After half a century of waiting, feature film returned to the Broadway on Saturday 18th July, with two member-exclusive screenings of The Smallest Show on Earth!

A wonderful occasion that will live long in the memory of all who attended, the Broadway was looking the best she has in decades, as our members got to experience a major milestone in our project's journey.

The event was curated as an authentic golden age cinemagoing experience. The Broadway's entrance featured vintage bunting under the canopy, a red carpet for arriving guests, and a beautiful baby blue classic MG A sports car parked in front of the open doors. The programme featured period trailers and advertisements, a Tom and Jerry cartoon as the B-feature, and an intermission with ushers and usherettes providing spotlit service from the tray to commemorate the occasion. Vintage set dressing also adorned the foyer, with a 1950s manager's desk set up, period magazines and portraits adorning the walls, and souvenir postcards for all who attended.

We would like to thank Rob of Ayrshire Classics Car Club, and Rhona of Pin Cushion Interiors, for supplying and supporting with the inclusion of the MG and the vintage bunting respectively.

This historic event will be the first of many more to come. As the Broadway Cinema Experience evolves to cement the Broadway's historic place as the cultural heart of Prestwick for generations to come!
