The Broadway has been awarded £67,150 from the National Lottery Community Fund’s Young Start programme! We are delighted to announce the funding, awarded for our ongoing engagement with young people, including the appointment of a full-time Young Start Co-ordinator, and the expansion of the Broadway Youth Film Society.

We have already established excellent links with local schools and developed a variety of opportunities for young people to engage with the media of film and the wider project; including the Broadway Youth Film Society which was first formed in 2025 to deliver learning for young people through film.
Through this, the Broadway has become one of the only locations nationally where the art of analogue projection is being taught to young generations, whilst filmmaking workshops have been delivered with support from our official media partner, Ayrshire Film Company, through their TVAyrshire project.
We now aim to expand the Broadway Youth Film Society project to additional schools throughout Ayrshire, with further exciting announcements to follow!
Lastly, after a successful interview process, the position of Young Start Co-Ordinator has been awarded to the Broadway's former Project Development Officer - Kyle Macfarlane!
Kyle formed the foundations on which the Young Start grant was delivered, founding the Broadway Youth Film Society and Academy Board of Directors.
Kyle has this to say about the Young Start Programme:
“It’s an honour to be appointed as Young Start Co-Ordinator of the Broadway. The potential for this project is extraordinary, and it will be a joy to continue to expand and evolve the opportunities we can deliver for young people, and to see the Broadway become the anchor for those opportunities on its journey”.
Keep your eyes peeled for more announcements about the Young Start project in the near future, but in the meantime, you can visit the Broadway Cinema Experience and Pop-up Museum and enjoy immersive special events in the cinema’s incredible original auditorium.
